We can’t keep asking nervous systems to regulate in environments that are inherently dysregulating.
- Sara Knol

Welcome Home
KNOL HAUS is here for the hard years — offering flexible counselling for overwhelmed parents and struggling tweens and teens alike.
This work meets families where they are, literally and emotionally. Based in Vernon, BC, sessions take place in my home, in clients’ homes, or outdoors, because support doesn’t always require an office chair, and some conversations land better when walking side by side.
KNOL HAUS creates space to vent, process emotions, move energy, gain clarity, and ask the harder questions. Unlike traditional talk therapy, the environment itself is part of the intervention, using movement, nature, creativity, and real-life connection as active tools for change.
This work isn’t just what I do, it’s who I am. I care deeply about the families I serve and the ripple effect that support creates. When one family feels steadier, the entire community benefits.
That’s the heart of KNOL HAUS.

A Registered Social Worker with over 20 years of experience supporting families through the harder seasons of life. I work with parents and teens navigating autism and other neurodiverse diagnoses, school challenges like refusal and inclusion, individualized education plans, homeschooling options, mental health concerns, caregiver burnout, family stress, peer and sibling relationships, and questions about gender, sexuality, and identity. I also provide guidance during MCFD involvement and help families access the supports they need.
Connecting with a counsellor before things reach a breaking point can make a huge difference. Teens especially benefit from having a trusted adult outside the family — someone they feel safe with and can turn to when they need it.
My role isn’t to fix or judge, but to provide consistent, confidential guidance, practical life skills, and the confidence to approach life a little differently.
